FIRM SUPPORT

The firm’s commitment to professional development includes our Associate Development Committee (ADC) consisting of appointed partners focused on promoting the growth and development of our young lawyers. Associate Liaison Committee
The Associate Liaison Committee consists of a group of peer elected associates who act as representatives for their respective associate classes. They work with the ADC to address associate concerns and professional development issues.

Mentor Program
Strasburger believes that an effective mentoring program is essential to the success of our young associates. Mentoring is one of the firm’s most important initiatives to train and retain its talented associates. The firm’s Mentor Program is designed to help establish mentoring relationships during an associate’s first few years at the firm. The program’s objectives include integrating associates into the firm, identifying short-term career goals, accelerating the learning process by translating legal knowledge into effective legal practice, and improving the delivery of legal services to firm clients.

The firm assigns to each first-year associate a partner mentor and an associate guide before they join the firm. Mentors meet with associates on a regular basis to discuss career development goals, provide advice on workload, time management, community involvement and training opportunities. Attorney Guides are typically junior level associates assigned to be a resource and point-of-contact during the associate’s first year at the firm. Mentors and Attorney Guides are critical to the development, success and retention of our associates.

Informal mentoring relationships also develop and are encouraged as the associate’s career development progresses.

Attorney Sponsor Program
The Attorney Sponsor Program ensures the successful integration of our new lateral attorneys to our firm culture and protocols. The firm assigns a partner to each lateral attorney from day one, and follows an integration calendar during the new attorney’s first six months at the firm. The attorney sponsor arranges attorney lunches, informs the new attorney about firm meetings and news, and reports to the lateral attorney’s Practice Unit Leader on the new attorney’s progress at the firm.

New Associate Orientation Program
New associates attend an extensive three day orientation program to help prepare them for life as a successful Strasburger associate. Members of the Policy Committee, Associate Development Committee, and a select group of associates facilitate the program by providing a general overview of the firm’s history, strategy, practice focus, strategic objectives and future outlook. The new associates also join their mentors for a welcome dinner in a fun and casual atmosphere where the mentors themselves address everyday issues on the associate’s minds such as best practices for recording time, working with partners, and how to get involved in our pro bono program.
