WORK EXPERIENCE
Trial Experience Program
The Firm maintains a Trial Experience Program designed as a value-added service for our clients and as an opportunity for our litigation associates to gain actual trial experience. Overseen by senior partners, our associates will be able to work up to 150 hours per calendar year, (subject to a 300 hour lifetime maximum), on these specially designated cases for our clients. Geared toward building a long-time, mutually beneficial partnership with our clients, the program contemplates charging lower rates for this work. Along with this economic benefit to our clients, the program simultaneously allows our associates the opportunity to gain working knowledge of our clients' businesses as well as valuable experience in the courtroom.
Attorney Development Plans
The firm’s mentoring program encourages all associates to complete an annual Attorney Development Plan, with guidance from their mentors. The plans outline specific activities the associates will take in the upcoming year to grow professionally. These activities include involvement in firm programs and events, increasing contact with current clients, developing relationships with peers in other law firms, companies and civic and professional organizations, improving or refocusing skill sets, training and community involvement.
Pro Bono
As an integral part of our firm’s culture, Strasburger is dedicated to providing pro bono legal services to local communities. The firm evidences this commitment through its adoption of formal pro bono policies, the appointment of a Pro Bono Committee to manage the firm’s pro bono services, and by allowing up to thirty hours of pro bono work to be counted towards an associate’s annual billable hour requirement.
Lawyers On Loan Program
Each year, the firm selects one or two litigation associates to work for three months as assistant prosecutor in the Dallas County District Attorney's office. This program serves two purposes. First, it supports the firm’s commitment to community outreach. Our contribution of additional lawyers helps the DA achieve its goals by providing additional resources to a very busy staff of Assistant DA’s. Second, this unique program provides the litigation associates in our Dallas and Collin County offices an opportunity to give back to the community while gaining valuable experience as lead trial lawyers on multiple cases. Our lawyers interview witnesses, including police officers, negotiate plea bargains with defense counsel, and try cases to a jury verdict.
