Kate Morris Elected to Dallas Bar Association Board
December 5, 2017
Strasburger & Price, LLP congratulates Kathryne (“Kate”) Morris on her election to the Board of Directors of the Dallas Bar Association. A voluntary, professional organization of more than 11,000 Dallas-area attorneys, the DBA is dedicated to the continuing education of its members as well as public service programs and the improvement of the administration of justice.
“Kate’s election to the Board follows two years of service as an appointed Director, At-Large and demonstrates that DBA members recognize her commitment and dedication to the organization,” said Bob Franke, Partner-in-Charge of Strasburger’s Dallas office. “We are proud of Kate and her support of the DBA’s mission to serve the legal community in Dallas. Kate’s service exemplifies Strasburger’s commitment to high standards in the legal profession and to serving our communities.”
Of particular importance to Kate, as both a board member and as Co-Vice Chair of the Equal Access to Justice Campaign, is the need for increased awareness of and funding for the newly created Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program Endowment. The purpose of the endowment is to sustain funding for the free legal services provided by the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program (DVAP), which annually serves thousands of members of our Dallas community who otherwise would not have access to a lawyer.
“Justice should never be out of reach of those living in poverty,” said Kate. “I have accordingly taken on the DBA’s ambitious and admirable goal of ensuring equal access to justice for all—now and in the future.”
Kate’s involvement and commitment to the DBA began when she started practicing law in 2008 and enrolled as a mentee in the Transition to Law Practice Program, the DBA’s signature mentoring program. Since that time, she has served in the program as a mentor and eventually as its Chair. Kate has also participated in the DBA as a Board Liaison for both the Franchise and Distribution Section (2016) and the Legal Ethics Committee (2016); and Co-Chair in 2015 and Co-Vice-Chair in 2014 for the Morris Harrell Professionalism Committee. She is also a Fellow of the Dallas Bar Foundation and the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers Foundation.
Kate is a privacy and technology lawyer with almost a decade of experience in technology transactions, business litigation and data security incident response. She is co-chair of Strasburger’s Privacy, Data and Cybersecurity practice group, and is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) through the International Association of Privacy Professionals. Kate also speaks and writes frequently on technology issues related to electronic discovery, data preservation, social media, and data privacy and security.
