OCTOBER 28, 2004 (Dallas, Texas) — Strasburger & Price, LLP, a full-service law firm with 200 attorneys, hosted its Fourth Annual Komen Dallas Race For The Cure® Kick-Off Luncheon on Wednesday, October 13, at the Belo Mansion's Pavilion. The Komen Dallas Race For The Cure® was held on Saturday, October 16.

Komen Breast Cancer Foundation's efforts in promoting breast cancer awareness. This year's luncheon was attended by over 130 guests, including two board members from the Tyler Affiliate and many other business leaders. The luncheon speaker was Toben Anderson, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 1994. Through faith and determination, she conquered a disease that threatens one in eight women. In 1997, Toben conquered her second major challenge — climbing to the summit of Antarctica's 16,067 foot Vinson Massif.

Toben Anderson has received extensive media coverage for her story and heroic undertakings. The 5th Estate produced a documentary and she has appeared on Pamela Wallin Live, Global News, CTV News and the Life Network, and she recently finished filming a documentary for CFCN. Toben has been named the National Spokesperson for both the Canadian Breast Cancer Society and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. In 1999, she was awarded the YMCA Women of Distinction Award.

As part of Strasburger's commitment to community involvement, the firm participates in events to support breast cancer awareness among its employees and clients. Each year, the firm participates in Lee National Denim Day® to raise funds to benefit the Komen Foundation, which receives 100% of the donations collected. This year over 100 Strasburger employees firm-wide participated in Lee National Denim Day®, raising over $1,200 to help fund breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment programs. This amount brings Strasburger's total contributions to the Komen Foundation to more than $40,000 over the past four years.

"The Komen Foundation applauds Strasburger's unwavering commitment to the fight against breast cancer," said Andy Halpern, General Counsel and Vice President for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. "Strasburger's efforts epitomize responsible corporate citizenship by providing much needed financial support and, more importantly, by being a truly engaged and active partner in the Komen Foundation's mission to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease."

In addition to hosting and completely underwriting the costs of Kick-Off Luncheons in Dallas and Houston, Strasburger financially supports and has provided pro bono legal services to the Komen Foundation. The firm also sponsors an average of 185 "Team Strasburger" participants in the Komen walks each year.
