Dallas, Texas –Strasburger & Price, LLP, a full-service law firm with seven offices, is pleased to announce that the Houston Bar Foundation awarded Strasburger the Outstanding Contribution to Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program (HVLP) by a Mid-Size Firm for 2006 Award.
Strasburger attorneys accepted 14 pro bono cases in 2006, and continuously volunteered their time to help staff HVLP clinics. Strasburger attorneys were also recognized for often accepting difficult HVLP cases with critically short deadlines, a service that is invaluable to many HVLP clients.
"Strasburger is committed to providing legal advice to those who cannot afford the service," said John Spiller, a Partner in Strasburger's Houston office who also serves as Treasurer of the HVLP. Mr. Spiller continued, "For example, the firm provides up to 30 hours of billable credit to any associate at our firm who works on approved pro bono matters such as the cases we receive through the Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program."
The Houston Bar Foundation provides primary support for the HVLP through an annual grant. HVLP's mission is to provide pro bono representation through volunteer attorneys to indigent and low income residents of Harris County. HVLP provides an important link between the applicant seeking legal assistance and the volunteer providing pro bono services.
