Matters handled by Strasburger’s appellate attorneys include the following:
Represented the nation's only NHTC and organic certified cattle ranch in a Travis County case tried to a jury. The Texas Department of Transportation ("Tex.DOT") acquired 174 acres of the 290-acre Harrell Ranch. The commissioners awarded $2.1 million for the taking. The Travis County Court at Law entered judgment on the jury's verdict for $6.95 million.
Represented the nation's largest owner/operator of daily fee golf courses, which had 1.87 acres condemned in the Trinity River bottom. Tex.DOT prevailed over the landlord at the commissioner's hearing. The 1.87 acres of land along the banks of the Trinity River was valued at only $1,600 and no award damages to the remaining property. The landlord subsequently changed professional service providers and hired Strasburger to take the case to trial. Strasburger prevailed, obtaining a jury verdict that resulted in a judgment of $672,000 for the landowner.
Represented DFW Airport in a large scale condemnation project involving the acquisition of easements to allow for runway expansion in Fort Worth, Texas. For several months, the firm guided the Airport through a lengthy and detailed administrative acquisition process and coordinated the title surveying and appraisal work necessary to comply with the condemnation requirements.
Represented the City of Dallas in the acquisition of property for the American Airlines Center and surrounding streets and infrastructure.
Represented Dallas County Community College District in the acquisition of property for new campuses in Irving, Garland, downtown Dallas and south Dallas.
Represented an Austin based Fortune 500 company against the State of Texas in a condemnation related case. The landowner's property was in the path of the MOPAC Expressway extension, a main roadway through the western side of the city. We successfully obtained a settlement of more than $8.5 million.
