OVERVIEW

Our Housing Authority Law team brings our vast experience in representing governmental entities to our representation of various housing authorities throughout the State of Texas. We represent and advise housing authorities on a host of legal issues, from employment law to contract law. We provide efficient, affordable representation and solutions to housing authorities so that they may perform their most important job: serving their communities.

EXPERIENCE

In selected matters, Strasburger:

  • Consults and advises clients regarding the acquisition and disposition of affordable housing, including compliance with HUD regulations, where applicable
  • Assists clients with Low Income Housing Tax Credits offered by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs
  • Assists housing authorities with myriad issues regarding Section 8 Housing
  • Represents public entities in the resolution of claims resulting from construction defects
  • Ensures that the identities of victims of domestic violence were protected when requested by media
  • Defends housing authorities in contract disputes where the contract was never approved in an open session pursuant to the Texas Open Meetings Act
  • Obtains Summary Judgments in racial discrimination suits
  • Represents NuRock Development West in connection with application for Low Income Housing Tax Credits for multiple developments multifamily properties and the foreclosure and refinancing of the properties
  • Represents a Catholic faith based organization in the development of a more than 200 hundred unit senior’s housing project including independent living, assisted living and nursing home
  • Represents architects and builders in significant construction cases
  • Negotiates and drafts a series of contracts with architects and contractors involving renovation and expansion campaign for non-profit owners
  • Represents developers in the resolution of claims and close out of projects involving the design and construction of assisted living facilities
  • Represents private commercial owners in the resolution of multiple mechanics liens
  • Advises private owners regarding the investigation and repair of a newly constructed concrete slab of a manufacturing facility
